I was just looking at Philip Glass's albums on iTunes, and noticed the same
things. Not many of them are $9.99; most are $11.99 and some even more (for
single disc albums).

It's true that the "everything for $9.99 an album" fiction is just that: fiction.
Slowly, prices have been inching upwards for many artists.

It's hard to complain about higher quality, DRM-free music but I have one concern. While Apple loves to give the impression that almost all albums cost $9.99 USD on iTunes, the fact is that most of the albums I go to buy are $11.99 or higher (Neil Youngs "Live Rust" and "Live at the Fillmore" are the 2 latest examples of single CD's I passed on because of the higher price). Apple tells us that the 256 kbps albums will be the same price as the current 128 kbps downloads, but I fear this is their chance to increase virtually all of their albums to the $11.99 and up plateau...and if that's the case it's just too high. Who is going to pay $12 for inferior digital when in most cases you can get the real thing on Amazon for about the same price? Not me. 10 bucks is the max I'm willing to shell out for the concenience of an iTunes download...not a penny more.
