Get MobileMe Cheap; Now

Apple has announced that its .Mac service is being rebranded as MobileMe. Behind this feeble name lies a service that looks like it will be an incremental improvement over .Mac. One biggie is push e-mail to iPhones, and the ability to sync PCs running Windows as well. I’m a .Mac user, and have been since the beginning – I maintain my subscription more because I need to write about it than for its value. I have my own domain name, web site and hosted server, so many of .Mac’s features (e-mail addresses, web page hosting, etc.) aren’t of much value to me. In addition, I find it expensive, at $99.

Well, current .Mac members will be automatically upgraded to MobileMe (which will cost the same), meaning that if you’re not a member yet you can become one before it launches and benefit from some interesting pricing. Amazon.com has single .Mac boxes for only $70 (marked down from $99) and family packs for only $125 (instead of $180). In addition, if you’re a current member, you can buy one of these boxes and renew your subscription now, even if it’s not running out.

Take advantage of these prices while you can, and help support Kirkville at the same time – I get 6% of your purchase price at no cost to you.
