Apple Has Some F***ing Idiots Working for Them

I’m pissed off. Apple has some idiots working for them, and they did something really stupid. I’ve got an Apple ID, which is an e-mail address and password, that I use for a number of Apple services: iTunes, MobileMe, my me.com (mac.com) e-mail address, and my ADC (Apple Developer Connection) account. I also use it on Apple’s Bug Reporter site, which is a part of ADC. For some time, however, I have been unable to log into the Bug Reporter site. When I enter my Apple ID and password, then click Login, I get the following message:

An error has occurred. Please report the error to Apple Inc. by emailing the error detail to devbugs@apple.com.

So I contacted them. Months ago. And over time, I got pushed over to another department, then another. And nothing happened.

Then, this afternoon, I tried to log into iChat – which uses my Apple ID – and was unable to. I also tried to get e-mail, from several accounts, including my MobileMe account, and was unable to. I e-mailed a friend, via a different account, and he said he was having no problems. (I just assumed that MobileMe was, once again, screwed up.)

But I was curious. I tried to log into my MobileMe account via the web access, and, apparently because I had set it to remember me for two weeks, was able to access my e-mail. I found a message saying the following:

Thank you for contacting Apple Developer Connection (ADC).  We have
received your request to reset your password.

Now, I never asked them to reset my password – something I could do by clicking a button – but tried to explain to them that there were problems logging in. And this is with my Apple ID that works for many other services. In addition to their resetting my password – essentially preventing me from accessing the very message which told me what they had done – they sent the new password, in clear text, in another e-mail message. Rather than suggest I reset the password, they took it on themselves to block my access to one of my e-mail accounts. If not for the MobileMe web access, I might have spent a very long time before I realized what had happened.

Assholes.
