Get Snow Leopard for Only $25 from Amazon

Apple has now officially (in a low-key manner) announced the ship date of Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6): August 28, or this Friday. You can get it from Amazon for $25, you can get the upgrade, and Amazon will probably ship the orders so you get them on the day of the release (at least that’s what they’ve done in the past).
Some warnings, though: to use this Snow Leopard upgrade, you need to alreday have a copy of Leopard on your Mac. (I’m not sure yet whether it will simply look at the installed OS or ask you to insert a previous disc to verify.) Also, this is only good for Intel-based Macs, so if you have a PowerPC Mac, you’ve reached the end of the line.
If you have multiple Macs, get the $49 family pack, and if you’re running a version of Mac OS X prior to Leopard, you’ll need to go for the Mac Box Set, which, at $169, also contains iLife and iWork.
I if you order using my links, I’ll get a small percentage of your purchase, so you can support Kirkville at the same time.

If you have Tiger and don’t want iLife or iWork, it would probably be much cheaper to buy a Leopard CD, maybe used, and the Snow Leopard CD. Then you could just update to Leopard and then immediately to Snow Leopard. Of course, if your Mac is old enough to not have Leopard on it, you may consider if it would be more economical to just wait until you get a new computer that will have Snow Leopard (and iLife) pre-installed on it, which you will probably need to do soon anyway.
Do you know if Amazon would mark down the price of Snow Leopard by much if you wait until after the release instead of pre-ordering?
I’ve never seen Amazon mark down any Apple software. You’d have to buy something used on, like, eBay or others if you want a cheaper price.
