It looks like the left and top positions have different settings (that are maintained through switching!) for each playlist. Left defaults to just Artist, but you can add Composer if you want. I think the left view might be useful for listing all of my Albums in my "super playlist" that has every track I have. Scrolling the Albums in the top view can be difficult when you can only see 7 at a time. I got composer to show at the left.
