Apple has just released Version 3.0.1 which addresses the problem Kirk and others encountered. What was wrong was a bug, corrected (I hope--haven't installed it yet) not by user troubleshooting but by a fix from the developer.

Should I not tell the "whole world" that there's a problem? Would it be better to say nothing?

How about you tell me what troubleshooting I should do? Because I've been through this with my Apple TV before, and I've spent many hours restoring it and resetting it, and I'm not planning to spend that time again for this device, which I don't use very much.

You begin to sound like Om, the first problem you have you have to whine to the whole world. Please do some trouble shooting first and find out what is wrong before shooting off.

I upgraded, liked the changes, but then had the same problem as Kirk: with iTunes running and the network functioning, the Apple TV couldn't see my Library. So I did a restore and all's back as it was, clunky interface and all, but usable.

Update worked great here on an early 160GB Apple TV unit. I like the new UI a lot better than the (awkward) previous 2.x interface. The "My" options are now easily accessible instead of being buried at the bottom of the menus.

All-in-all a nice upgrade.

Seemed to work fine here save it copied as much of my video content leaving only enough room on it for 2 songs. Had to go and untick a few things to get enough of my library on it. BTW the updated iPod Touch / iPhone remote app is pretty impressive.

Yes, I did. In fact, I was worried that it might not work with the older firmware after I restored the Apple TV, but it's fine.
