I’ve been using AgileBits’ 1Password for several years, and it’s the second-most useful app on my Mac, after LaunchBar. With 1Password, I know I can have peace of mind: all my passwords, credit card numbers, PINs and other secret information is protected and easily accessible. And this information is not only a couple of keypresses away on my Macs, it’s also available on my iPhone and iPad, thanks to the iOS version of 1Password.
So a new version of 1Password is good to see. 1Password 4 has streamlined and smoothed out the interface. The new display is much nicer to look at, and easier to navigate.
It also comes with 1Password mini, a menu extra that gives you quick access to all of 1Password’s features from the menubar.
1Password has Wi-Fi syncing, and even lets you search for 1Password logins from LaunchBar, and other third-party apps. And there are many more new features, such as shared vaults and items, favorites, and a Security Audit section in the app, which shows which passwords you need to improve, how old your passwords are and more.
1Password 4 is 20% off for a brief time on the Mac App Store, at $40. It’s a free upgrade to all those who have purchased the app from the Mac App Store. Agile Bits also has upgrade pricing for those who have bought the app directly from them: see their website.
