About Me

I am a French to English translator with a very diverse range of interests and knowledge. I am American, have lived in France since 1984, and have worked here as an English teacher (6 years), a bookseller (3 years in a French bookshop, responsible for books on spiritualities, literature, and social sciences), and a translator (7 years). I also have a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics.

I currently work as a free-lance translator, specialized in computers, telecom, finance, the new economy and e-commerce, the Internet and web sites. I am also a technical writer and freelance journalist. I also very much enjoy translating books (both fiction and non-fiction) and screenplays. I work together with my wife, who translates into French, which ensures a high level of quality, since she revises all my translations. We also translate into French, for texts in the same fields.

I am also a freelance writer; I have written several computer books and manuals, write for magazine and web sites, and offer services in business writing, technical writing, journalism and more.

I live in Guillestre, in the French Alps.

Subjects

Areas in which I am particularly knowledgeable:

I work with the Macintosh, PC and Linux operating systems, with all major software (Word, Nisus Writer, XPress, PageMaker, Acrobat, etc.) as well as with Trados.
