Warner Classics has, in its back catalogue, a huge collection of recordings issued on the Teldec, Erato and Das Alte Werk labels. In mid-September, they will be releasing three “legacy” box sets, one for each label, with a selection of 50 CDs among the highlights of their back catalogs. (Note that for now I have only found these listed in the UK; they might be available in the US soon.)
The Teldec Legacy Box Set (Amazon UK) includes recordings by András Schiff, Thomas Hampson, John Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Barenboim, Nicklas Harnoncourt and others, in music ranging from Haydn to Stravinsky, and Mozart to Mahler. Download full track listing here.
The Erato Legacy Box Set (Amazon UK) features many baroque recordings, by Bach, Couperin, Gluck and Lully, but also more modern compositions by Messiaen, Boulez, Stravinsky and Milhaud. Performers include William Christie and Les Arts Florissants, John Eliot Gardiner, Maire-Claire Alain, Jean-François Paillard and Mark Minkowski. Download full track listing here.
Finally, the Das Alte Werk Legacy Box Set (Amazon UK) highlights the early music released on this label, with a great deal of Bach, Handel, Monteverdi and Telemann, with performers such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Gustav Leonhardt, Anner Bylsma, Bob van Asperen, and Concerto Köln. Download full track listing here.
Each of these 50-disc sets is listed at £102 on Amazon UK, but will probably be discounted after release. As is usually the case, they won’t be available for long, so if you want to pick up these bargain-priced sets, don’t wait.
